Friday's Thoughts

Happy Friday!

Black w/ Gold Details Cardigan - Thrifted! $5!
Lace Embroidered Dress - c/o Dressale
Black Peep Toe Pumps - Bebe
Bracelets - Thrifed!

Today is much needed - FRIDAY that is. I have been longing for Friday all week. Lately, time has been flying by, but this week it seemed like it inched away minute by minute. The weather is beautiful here and we are supposed to be experiencing 80's! That's exciting for Minnesota, especially when sometimes we have snow in the forecast by now. My weekend I don't have too much planned other than working on a few projects and getting caught up with my life. Family time and church is a given. I want to plan a night for me and the hubs to just get out and enjoy each other. With an 8 month old, that doesn't happen that often. Plus with my mom and sis feeling under the weather baby Grace has been getting lots of mommy and daddy time!

I'm also getting antsy about Halloween coming up, and all of the holidays for that matter. I can't wait to share the holidays with my little one, I'm so excited for her to be apart of everything. It's funny how your perspective on life shifts when you become a parent. I pray for her daily, and only want to do my best to show her by my actions of how she should live. I hope that I am a good example of someone who is sincere, honest, humble, and has a good heart. I ask God to show me how to teach her that these things are what she should focus on and everything else will fall into place. She's only 8 months, but it means so much to me.

Do you know what I mean?
What things do you pray on for your little ones?

Hope you have an amazing weekend!

Blueprint

Happy Hump Day!

This morning on my way to work I was listening to the radio. I listen to this uplifting station (98.5 KTIS) and they were talking about this scripture:

"A man's heart deviseth his ways, but the Lord directeth his steps." - Proverbs 16:9

It stuck with me. There are a lot of things that are exciting in my life right now. Some things are changing and some things are shifting. Somethings are new, some old things are going away. It's a new season in my life and I am happy. It's all working toward the good of my future.
Yet, I find myself trying to map out the blueprint sometimes.
Instead of letting Jesus be the guide.

Have you ever done this?

Honestly, I think everyone should have answered yes.
Well, if you're anything like me, you said yes. That controlling nature tried to sneak up in me and wanted to start doing and making moves without being led.
You know the feeling, you get good news about something, and then you start mapping out the future. Talking about what you're going to do in a month, in six months, in a year.
But what about tomorrow?

I was watching this documentary about Joan Rivers' life and they mentioned a time when someone was having dinner with her and Richard Pryor and their management, I think. The manager was talking about what they were going to have Richard Pryor do in a a year, in two years and so on and so forth. Mapping out and planning out his ways. And Richard said,

"I get all that, but what about Monday?"

It was interesting to me, because I believe that God has been showing me in the slightest ways that I need Him to direct my steps every day. And that will lead me to the ultimate goal and destination of where I need to be. I know this to be true because I have tried to direct myself to places and ended up walking in circles.
I have to take this mindset of walking each day one step at a time by His guidance. Now, I am not saying it is not good to plan ahead! It is very good to do so, but be led in your steps that you take. When we jump into situations based on emotion and adrenaline, that can and will lead us into dangerous situations. Trust me, I've been there. God already has a plan worked out, that I don't even have to do the work to get. He loves me enough to gift it to me. So, I've got to take what He has for me. And its more beautiful than anything I could ever come up with. So I'm taking Proverbs 16:9 to heart and I hope you do, too!

Thrift Finds

Happy Tuesday!

Quick post as I just wanted to share a quick photo of the recent thrift store finds I have come upon. I am the occasional thrifter, but lately since I need to pay down bills and save, I cannot spend too much money on clothes. With the changing of seasons I have found some really great pieces that will transition nice into fall.

Fitted Chambray Button Down
Brown/Black Polka Dot Sweater
Black/Grey Color Block Cardigan
Plaid Button Down
Lightweight Black Cropped Cardigan
Crossbody Black Leather Purse
TOTAL= ~ $40

I love when I find good things, thrifting. Nothing beats the feeling of paying $5 for something amazing! Can't wait to share them with you all!

Have a good day!

Sugarhill Boutique

Happy Monday!

Midnight Tree Dress c/o Sugarhill Boutique - Find it here
Black Booties - similar here
Gold/Black chain purse - borrowed, similar here,  here and here
Cross necklace - F21
Bangle - Thrifted

How was your weekend?
Mine was filled with friends and family, as I met up with a couple friends for dinner on Friday and we celebrated my oldest sister's birthday on Saturday. It was also beautiful out, despite later rain, so I got to get together with Aisha and take a few fashion shots for the blog.

I got this lovely dress from Sugarhill Boutique, and its totally my style. There's something about that type of rocker-esq edginess that this dress brings, that I had to play up on it. I am still in the market for a biker jacket, or that is definitely what I would have paired it with. Or fringe, you know I'm loving fringe right now. (DIY to come!!) And of course I had to pair it with my fave cross necklace right now! Which remind me of a couple things - one the By Faith Accessories giveaway has ended and a winner has been chosen! Alexandria, I have reached out to you on details for your prize. All who entered, remember you have one week left to grab a pretty piece from By Faith Accessories and get 15% off, her items are priced to sell - so check them out! (Link in the left sidebar).

Also, I was at target and a cashier was saying how much she enjoyed this necklace. She began to tell me that her teenage daughter received a letter from her high-school that they are not allowed to wear anything that has a cross on it! It makes me think back to the days where we used to pledge allegiance to the flag as a nation under God, and how far away it we have become. Crosses are on everything nowadays and it was more of a fashion statement, but pretty cool for those of us that love Christ and love what they stand for.

What do you think?

Hope you all have a great day!

Weekend Verse: Be Kind

Happy Weekend! :)

Wanted to share something with you all and expand further for those of you that follow me on instagram (as you may have already saw this).

We live in a My, Myself, and I world. Our days revolve around what we want, our lives around what is important to us. We know better than anyone else, other than God, what we are going through or dealing with on a regular basis. And when we face difficult or stressful times, we often want others to empathize with us. But we don't return the favor to those around us.

For example: When someone cuts you off on the highway or in line at the coffee shop we allow that to reduce the amount of love that we show them. When we are having a bad day and a coworker isn't helping the situation, we can be short and rude to them. When we are frustrated with our lives, we can take it out on the ones around us who show use the most love.

And then we run to God and we ask him to help us. And he does just that, with all our complaining, and bad attitudes, and how annoying we can be - he still loves us and has mercy on us. And is there.

Let's show less judgement and more love. Let's show less selfishness and more selflessness, we never know when someone other than ourselves may need it.

Using the prayer above and the scripture below, being kind is the subject this weekend.
How did you show kindness to someone this weekend?

"Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."Matthew 5:7

Have a great weekend!

Patience + Let Your Light Shine Thursdays!

Happy Thursday!

Hope you all made it over the hump gracefully. It seems like it was just July yesterday and already September! Where has the time gone? Although the seasons seem to fade in lightning speed right now, it seems like some things in my personal life are inching by, bit by bit.

How many of you know when you focus all of your energy on something that you are waiting on, it seems to creep by? I am reminded of my days in grade school when we would watch the clock at the end of the day anticipating the end of the day bell. Every moment we glanced up it was as if nothing had changed and I swear the time went backwards with how dreading-ly long it took for the minute hand to make its way around the clock.

I am sort of experiencing something similar in my life right now. I have been given direction from God on where He is taking me and even some clues on how its going to happen. I've done my part, and now its time for me to have patience. Ughhh, sometimes that word can look so nice and pretty but be annoying at the same time.

Patience, is very important because it has to have its perfect work before things happen. Sometimes, when we are not patient, it can be like taking the dessert we are baking out of the oven early, and once it starts to cool there's no turning back. How frustrating to have done all that work and your little dessert or project doesn't turn out. But it was all due to patience.

I have to stand firm on Jesus and His word. I have to believe every ounce of Hebrews 10:36:
"For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise."

I have created this lovely printable for those of you in need of something positive to look at, that reinforces today's message. Patience is one of life's greatest keys. Very important.

Ombre + Fringe

Happy Hump Day!

New Hair!

Black Hooded Cardigan - Gifted
Blue Shirt Dress - Foreign Exchange -Similar here
Black Fringe Booties - Gifted
Cross Necklace - F21

So I love this blue dress. Its sleeveless and can perfectly go under a cardigan to transition into fall. Of course I had to pair it with the new fringe booties I have. These are amazing. I apologize now, because you will be seeing a lot of these and other fringe on the blog. I am working on a fringe DIY and can't wait to share that with you all as well! Oh and in case you missed it, I featured one of my very first digital illustrations on my Instagram and she is totally rocking the fringe!

Since this is a new avenue for me, I don't want to overload you all, but I am really excited! I am pumped with the amount of support I have been receiving and there are some really great ideas and projects in the pipeline!

And the white elephant in the room - my hair! I am in love with this new ombre look.
I think its perfect for fall and I can't wait to try out different looks with it. So overall, a great week so far!

Have an awesome day!
